There is no better way to pitch in, connect with other families, and see the community in action than to donate your time.
9.17.26 Welcome Back Potluck
We need volunteers to make and bring dishes for the potluck (main, side, and dessert), deliver utensils and other supplies, help set up and clean up, serve food, and table for the PTA and Breast Cancer Walk.
We need volunteers to assist with both setting up before the event and cleaning up afterward.
9.25.26 Outdoor Movie Night
We need volunteers to assist with both setting up before the event and cleaning up afterward.
10.24.26 Fallfest
We need volunteers to help set-up, break down and clean up, greet incoming guests, manage the haunted maze, lead the turf games and relay races, and help with all the exciting booths we’ll have set up (cupcake designing, face painting, garden activities, and more). This event is a PS 261 perennial favorite, and whatever task you take on, you will have a lot of fun doing it.
11.21.26 Turkey Bowl & Chili Cook-Off
Come vote on your favorite chili, and while you’re at it, help us set-up, clean-up, count ballots, and provide the necessary chili toppings.
4.17.26 Spring Thing
Join us for the fourth annual Spring Thing where there will be a $1 rummage sale, mending station, plant swap, up-cycled craft projects, and more. We need community volunteers to help with setting up and breaking down, sorting clothing donations for the rummage sale, selling clothes at the rummage sale, assisting kids during event activities, and more.
5.14. to 5.16.26 School Musical
The PS 261 School Musical is a treasured tradition that can only continue with the help of volunteers. Volunteers will have the opportunity to help with set design, costume design, make-up, stage management, and much more.

Library Hours Wednesday & Friday 8:00 AM to 8:20 AM
Our school library is open early on Wednesdays and Fridays. We need volunteers to check out books.

If volunteering your time is not feasible, or if you would like to contribute in other ways, please consider donating to the PTA. Like many public schools, PS 261 relies heavily on the generosity of our families to fill the gaps that public funding does not cover. For example, the PTA will fully fund the four counselors who monitor students during lunch, recess, and school breaks; provide money for field trips; fund free community events, like Comic Con; and contribute to the school librarian, ensuring that PS 261 has a full-time librarian at least four days a week.
