Welcome to the
PS 261 Library
PS 261 Library Mission
The mission of the PS 261 Library is to be a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space where every student feels seen, valued, and capable as a learner and a reader. The library supports classroom learning by developing students’ inquiry, media literacy, research, and technology skills and by fostering a love of reading through a diverse collection and meaningful student choice. Continuing the school’s mission of social justice and community building, the library serves as an equitable space that centers student voice and reflects the identities and experiences of the school community. Through collaboration with teachers, staff, and families, the library serves as a dynamic hub for discovery, curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and growth.

Ms. M
Some of you may know me as Genevieve's or Yaya's mom, but kids can call me Ms. M. I am in my final year earning my Master's degree in Library and Information Science at CUNY Queens so I will be learning along with your kids!
Dear Families,
Welcome to PS 261s School Library! I'm so excited to help your child find books they love! I will be in the library on Mondays and Thursdays. Your child will come to the library on a rotating schedule for a read-aloud, mini-lesson, and to check out books. Students may check out a book of their choice and must return their last book to get a new one.
