Welcome Pre K Families this is the Pre K phase in calendar.
Your classroom and group number will be emailed to you before the start of school.
School begins Thursday, September 8th, 2016
On the 1st day of school Parents will be invited to spend the first 15 minutes in the class. Please wait outside of the classroom until the teacher invites you in during this process.
Day 1 – Thursday, September 8th
8:30 – 9:00 – Teacher prepares room for Group 1. (Your classroom and group number will be emailed to you before the start of school.)
9:00 – 10:00 – Group 1 arrives and stays for ONE HOUR
10:00 – 10:30 -Teacher prepares room for Group 2.
10:30 – 11:30 – Group 2 arrives and stays for ONE HOUR
Day 2 – Friday, September 9th
Pre K Orientation, with children and Parents. We know that you may have many questions. We will address all questions during this Pre K Orientation Meeting.
8:30 – 9:00 – Teacher prepares room for Orientation.
9:00 – 9:30 – Group 1 and 2 children meet with teacher.
9:30 – 10:15 -Children proceed outside with assistant teachers to playground while parents attend Orientation Meeting with Pre K Teachers
10:30 – Welcome coffee for all Pre K families in the little yard playground area.
11:15 – Children and Families are dismissed.
Monday, September 12th – No School
Tuesday, September 13th
8:30 – 9:00 – Teacher prepares room for children
9:00 – 11:30 – Group 1 and 2 arrive and stay. Children are dismissed at 11:30
Wednesday, September 14th
8:20 – 2:40 – Full Day Schedule begins. Emergency Clothes due ( in baggies) please label all articles.
2:40 – Pick up is prompt. Please arrive on time!
Since separation from families can be a very anxious time for your child, we are asking you to make every effort to adhere to the arrival pick up times.
From 9/14/16 to 9/23/16 – You have the option of picking up your child at noon, ONLY if you feel your child is having difficulty adjusting to the full day schedule and need some extra time to acclimate to a longer day. This must be discussed with the teacher in advance. We will work with you.

Ms Vivian, a veteran teacher of nearly two decades, earned a Bachelor’s in Developmental Drama and Early Childhood Education from Hunter College. She has a Master’s in Elementary Education with a specialty in English as a Second Language from Adelphi University. Miss Vivian has taught pre-K since 2004, but she has spent most of her career teaching kindergarten, as well as first and second grades, and much of it at PS261. At home she keeps busy surfing the net, swimming, biking, doing arts and crafts and working on home projects.

Yvonne, as she prefers to be called, has been at our school since 1996. Before this she worked on Wall Street for 10 years. She received her Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education, Master’s in Teaching Mathematics in Elementary School, and a Master’s in Educational Leadership/School Administration, from Brooklyn College. Yvonne has taught Kindergarten, First, Second, and Third grades, and she was the “Math Games” teacher specialist. Yvonne, who is from Panama, speaks Spanish fluently. She enjoys attending performing arts events, and she loves children, cakes, and flowers.
