Rocco began teaching at PS261 in 2007. Born and raised in Brooklyn, he began studying piano seriously in high school. He holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in Music at Queens College, where he was an active member of the Queens College Chorus and Choir, and a Masters in Music Education at Brooklyn College. In 2009, Rocco became certified in the Kodaly method from the Kodaly Institute at NYU, which is an approach to music education that was developed in Hungary. In his spare time, Rocco enjoys traveling, working out, and hanging out with friends and family.
We have a partnership with HSA, Harlem School of the Arts. They are here 2 days a week and working with our upper grade students. 4th and 5th graders audition to become members of the PS 261 Family Band, which is a New Orleans style brass band.
