Dear PS 261 Families,
Raise money for PS 261 and the Malala Foundation through reading!
Have you heard about Malala? She is from Pakistan and fights for girls to go to school. You can read about her in great books for big kids such as I am Malala, by Malala Yousafzai and Patricia McCormack, or easy readers such as Malala: A Hero for All, by Shana Corey and Elizabeth Sayles. This year half of the money students raise will help our school, and half will help Malala send girls to school.
How does it work?
Students seek sponsors who will make a pledge to give money after the read-a-thon is finished. Students read, read and read while logging their minutes read from 4/5 – 4/19. Then collect payments to give to the school by 4/21.
o The PTA will make a payment of half of the funds raised to the Malala Foundation.
o You can collect donations on-line! Sign up at https://goo.gl/UXHe4r
o You can also use a paper pledge sheet by downloading one here at https://goo.gl/UXHe4r.
Let’s celebrate reading!
Students who read 360 minutes or more will receive a pin.
The class that reads the most minutes will win a pizza party.
